Aloha to our Quilt Passions friends and ohana,
Next week at Quilt Passions
Just a note to let you know about two special events coming up at Quilt Passions next week:
Mon., July 2 - 9:00 am until 12:00 pm - Machine Satin Stitch Applique class with Viv Smith
Learn to applique with the machine satin stitch technique. Not only does it look different than hand needle turned work, but it takes a fraction of the time, and can certainly look more decorative with the use of embroidery and metallic threads.
You will be supplied with prepared appliqués, stabilizer and a picture applique block and an instruction book to take home (lest you forget)
We will cover; machine needles, threads and stabilizers. Stitch placement and stitch tension. Techniques to applique both soft and sharp inner and outer curves. Techniques to applique inside and outside corners. Techniques to applique points.( The most fun to do !)
You will also see lots of samples to give you ideas about where your new found skills can take you.
Cost: $25.00 (includes kit!)
Tues., July 3 - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm - Open Sew
Bring a project to work on and enjoy some stitching time.
Tues., July 3 - 1:00 pm - Red, White and Blue Lei Make and Take
Learn to make a four color braided ribbon lei. We'll be making them in red, white, blue, and gold just in time for your Fourth of July celebration, but you'll enjoy making future ones in colors to go with any occasion or theme. Cost: $5.00
