Foundation Paper Piecing with Legit Kits
Class Description:
Foundation Paper Piecing does not have to be the tedious, exacting method that it is sometimes
made out to be. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced Paper Piecer, learn how to piece quickly, without pre-cutting or special tools. During this two-day class, you will learn about the revolutionary block approach created by Legit Kits, learn how to organize your quilt kit, and learn tips and tricks for frustration-free sewing. There are no curves or Y seams involved! You’ll work on the quilt of your choice, and leave with the confidence to finish the quilt on your own! Learn how Foundation Paper Piecing can be easy and enjoyable!
About the Instructor:
Jaymi Horne has been sewing professionally for over 20
years. She began quilting as a creative outlet, and fell in love
with Foundation Paper Piecing. Dubbed the “FPP Queen” by
her Instagram followers, she has designed over 50 Foundation
Paper Pieced patterns, has been published in Make Modern
Magazine and featured in local art shows. Her quilts and
patterns can be found at www.crankykangaroo.com
Supply list (please bring to class):
• Your Legit Kit including all fabric and pattern pages
• Light/neutral colored thread for piecing and 3-4 loaded bobbins
• Tweezers
• If you prefer not to use your fabric scissors to cut paper, bring a pair of paper-dedicated scissors.
• Iron and pressing mat
• Clear cellophane tape (such as Scotch brand)
Notions typical to machine sewing:
• scissors (4” or longer blades)
• pins (normal quilting pins)
• seam ripper
• Extra needles for your machine, size 70/10 or 80/12
OPTIONAL:
• Rotary cutter
• 12” long ruler (does NOT need to be square, NOT Add-a-quarter)
• Small cutting mat (12-14” square)
• Notebook and pen for taking notes
